Picture Books by Leslie Patricelli

If you think that kids should only start reading when they enter kindergarten, these books by Leslie Patricelli can prove you wrong. Indeed, toddlers may be more fascinated by toys than by daunting books, but that is not the case if you find books that teach age-appropriate knowledge with easy text. The picture books by Leslie Patricelli aim at turning everyday, mundane activities into interesting stories that will appeal to infants and toddlers. One of her most popular books – No No Yes Yes teaches babies how to navigate in this new world and tells them what is correct and incorrect behaviour, such as picking his nose and filling the toilet with toys. In addition, with the colourful and eye-catching illustrations and the limited number of words in huge fonts, children are allowed ample room on each page for their creativity to blossom while they try to act out the funny illustrations in the book. With the hilarious stories and pictures, your child will be giggling away while enjoying these entertaining picture books!

The Oxford Reading Tree

The Oxford Reading Tree is a world-renowned series of children's books designed for children aged 0-8 to help them develop early reading skills, introduce them to phonics in a fun and systematic way, and offer a simple and easy to use resource for teaching comprehension skills and strategies to junior readers. The Oxford Reading Tree is used by 80% of primary schools and is the most popular reading scheme in the UK. The books are carefully categorised into various reading levels and so you can easily find books that suit your children most.

We highly recommend The Oxford Reading Tree's Biff, Chip and Kipper's stories, which consist of 9 reading stages. Language comprehension is at the heart of them as the multi-layered stories follow a group of characters through real, engaging storylines.
Stories have been written using a mix of high-frequency and phonic words which can be blended and sounded out. Moreover, interesting historical characters and facts are also introduced in the more advanced stages, allowing your children to develop reading skills as well as acquiring knowledge about the world history. They are truly ideal to consolidate our children's English skills and broaden their horizons.

Enjoy reading with your children!

Reading is fun

For parents who wish to introduce the habit of reading to their toddlers, we highly recommend the series of Usborne's farmyard tales.

On every page of all their story books, a little yellow duck is hiding and awaiting to be spotted. Young children are thrilled when they find the duck and there they go, page after page and book after book they want some more!!

For newborns and toddlers

Before our little babies learn to absorb ideas visually or verbally, they are more interested in items they can "feel" with their hands. Lift-the-flap, touch-and-feel and bath books are ideal for them. Some of these books even have sound effects.

If you have these books at home, you will notice your 1 to 2 year-old will always take them off from the bookshelf and keep pressing the buttons or touching the parts with different textures time and time again!

Enjoy reading with your children!
